The following portfolio reflects recent works by Cecy Rose, a West Virginia artist who has been painting and teaching art over a period of thirty years. She has a background in drawing and printmaking, as well, but has, of late, put her full attention on pastels and oil on canvas.

Her work has been displayed in various galleries and museums both local and regional, from Rhode Island School of Design and Chicago Art Institute, to Stifel Fine Arts Center of Wheeling and the Cultural Arts Centers of Charleston and Parkersburg, WV. Her style is representational with respect for the classical, yet her technique approaches a more painterly handling of the subject. She has had many wonderful teachers along the way -- her instructors at Murray State University Fine Arts Department, as well as those at RISD, in particular the late Robert Hamilton, her painting advisor in the graduate program. Inspiration has also come from colleagues and students in and near the Wheeling area. She has been inspired by their art as well as works of the masters such as Bouguereau, Velasquez, Cassatt and Sargent, to name a few.
